Entering Budget Values

  1. Once a budget is created (see Creating a New Budget), select Accounting > Budgets. If you are using universal navigation, click Accounting > Budgets > Budgets.

  2. Select a budget from the Budgets screen. The Edit Budget screen will open.

    • You can click Budget Parameters to view more details about the set parameters.

  3. If needed, click Add to add GL accounts that weren't originally included in the budget.

  4. Click within any box on the spreadsheet and enter the value. Totals are updated at the bottom of the sheet as you work. If this budget was created from a previous year’s budget, the values will automatically be set based on the previous year.

    • It is important to click Save as you go to ensure your data is saved. The screen will auto-save every five minutes. If you click Refresh in CINC Accounting prior to saving changes you will receive a notification informing you that the Refresh action will revert any unsaved changes.

    • To change the distribution method for a budget row between yearly and monthly, click the Calendar icon. The row will highlight either the year columns or the month columns to indicate the distribution method.

    • You can copy/paste data from Excel into the Edit Budget screen. You can paste into all twelve, month columns of a single row at once when toggled onto the monthly distribution for that row.

    • Numbers input will round to the nearest .1 or .01 value to ensure that only real monetary values are input.

    • To add a note or comment to a budget row, click the Note icon. Enter your note then click Save. After it is saved, the note will display any time the icon is clicked.

    • If you attempt to Post prior to saving you will be notified.
