Writing a Check
Writing a Check
You can use the Write a Check screen to:
Record bank charges (e.g., Bank Adjustment). No check number is issued, but the amount is recorded in a bank account as a reconciling item.
Record investment losses (e.g., Bank Adjustment).
Record loan payments (e.g., Bank Loan).
Record debit card transactions (e.g., Bank Adjustment).
To write a check:
Select Banking > Write A Check. If you are using universal navigation, click Accounting > Banking > Write A Check.
Complete the fields on the screen. You can choose from a list of vendors in the Pay To field that has been set up or type in a name.
To add attachments, drag and drop an attachment or click Browse to select one from your hard drive. Files over 10MB will not be uploaded. You can remove attachments by selecting the checkbox to the left of the attachment and clicking Remove.
In the Expense Line Items section, check add to if more rows are needed.
Click Post. If a Check is selected in the Pay By field, a check will be ready to print in the check printing client (see Printing Checks and Deposit Slips). If Bank Adjustment or EFT is selected, an entry is made in the bank account register.
