Correcting Balance Sheets

If a balance sheet is out of balance, check the following:

  1. Verify that the bank account balance through the balance sheet's end date matches the bank account register balance as of the report date. (See Bank Accounts)

  2. Turn on the alerts for Unlinked GL Transactions. (See Managing Alerts and Reminders) Determine if there are any transactions that are not linked to a proper GL. (See GL History)

  3. Determine what the balance difference is. Check to see if any manual journal entries were made in or around this amount, and that they were done correctly. (See Journal Entries)

  4. Verify the prior fiscal year is closed and the retained earnings entry is booked. (See Fiscal Periods)

  5. Log a support case if the above steps were unsuccessful. (See Help Functions)
